SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (WJCL) – The Mars Theatre in Springfield has been open for several months now.
Theatre operators said things are going smoothly; they’re not losing money nor gaining a lot of profit as of yet.
Tommy Deadwyler, Springfield’s Cultural Affairs Director said it has been steady. He said on average, they’ll fill about half the seats for shows and movies.
Springfield City Council members just approved funding for two marquees. Right now, they’re using their website and social media, along with some donated whiteboards to attract people on the street and drivers passing by.
The marquees will be posted on each side of the theatre.
Deadwyler expects for the signs to pay for themselves in the long run. He said people constantly walk in asking what’s going on.
“There’s a lot of bustle around town during the week and during the week day. So I think people will respond and see something that will catch their eye,” said Deadwyler.
The signs will be ready in about five weeks.
